National Coming Out Day Film and Discussion: The Out List
Monday, October 12, Noon 1:30 pm, 116 Campus Center, Bend

October 11, National Coming Out Day, is the internationally observed day to celebrate and to raise awareness of the LGBTQ community and the LGBTQ civil rights movement. In celebration, join us for the film, The Out List, which highlights the voices of Americans from all walks of life who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. This diverse group of LGBTQ personalities (activists, actors, politicians, drag queens, athletes, etc.) share their personal experiences of gender and sexuality and their determined struggle for full equality. Who Owns the Past? Lunch, Film and Discussion
Tuesday, October 13, Noon-2 pm, Culinary Institute, Bend Campus

This documentary examines the legal and ethical questions raised by Native Americans and scientists following the discovery of Kenewick Man, a 9,000 year old skeleton found on the bank of the Columbia River. After the film, stay for a discussion with Wilson Wewa, Kelly Cannon-Miller, and Nick Jew. Any questions, call Gina Ricketts at 541-318-3782.

October is Latin@ Heritage Month!

Cuba Talk

Join Professor Tom Barry as he shares his experience of traveling to Cuba in July 2015. He will share his observations of Cubas history in the context of its current political economy and state of affairs. Refreshments will be provided.

Instrumental Latin Jazz performed by Miguel De Alonso and friends. Purchase your lunch or bring your lunch and enjoy the musical performance as you escape to faraway lands! Miguel plays original music with influences from many different countries.

Film: Underwater Dreams
Tuesday, October 20, 6:30pm in Pioneer 201, Hitchcock Auditorium, Bend
Thursday, October 22, 5 pm, Madras Campus Community Room

Underwater Dreams, narrated by Michael Pea, chronicles the story of how the sons of undocumented Mexican immigrants learned to build underwater robots and submitted their creation in a college contest, competing against MIT, among other top colleges.

Teatro Milagro Presents: Searching for Aztlan
Wednesday, October 28, 5 pm in Pioneer 201, Hitchcock Auditorium, Bend

Searching for Aztln begins in January 2012 with the Tucson school boards passage of HB 2281, shutting down Mexican American Studies and removing its books from classrooms. Searching for Aztln takes the audience on a metaphorical yellow brick road of discovery about what it means to be Chicano in contemporary society. This is a bi-lingual theater production.
