Occupational Therapy Assistant

Distance Education program in partnership with Linn-Benton Community College

Central Oregon Community College (COCC) has partnered with Linn Benton Community College (LBCC) to bring the Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate of Applied Science program to our region via distance education. Students wishing to study this occupation may take prerequisite courses at COCC, apply for the distance program, and receive the degree via distance delivery while remaining in Central Oregon. Students can also take required support courses at COCC. Clinical skills classes are taught on the COCC Bend campus and field work can be completed at participating clinical partners in Central Oregon.

What does an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) do?

Occupational therapy assistants work under the direction of occupational therapists in treating patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. Their goal is to help patients live more independently. Major employers include hospitals, nursing homes, schools, rehabilitation centers, and occupational therapist's offices.
