Gabriann "Abby" Hall has been part of the COCC family since 2019. She teaches Ethnic Studies, Native Studies, and Cultural Responsiveness in Allied Healthcare.
Gabriann was born and raised in the Fort Klamath Valley and attended school in Chiloquin, Oregon. She then went to Oregon State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Ethnic Studies, a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, and later a Master of Arts in Teaching. She enjoys volunteering with the Klamath Tribe on education-related issues and spending time with family. She currently lives in Bend with her husband and two daughters. They enjoy spending time outdoors camping, fishing, gathering, and hunting.
"I am an enrolled member of the Klamath Tribes, currently living and working in Central Oregon. While growing up, the education system did not teach history that reflected my tribal heritage or culture. This impacted how I viewed myself, my family, my tribe, my community, and my country. Therefore, I teach Ethnic Studies because it is my passion, and I believe that history needs to accurately reflect the past as well as the world we currently live in. When I teach this history, I keep the perspective of those that lived it and teach with respect and reverence for their experiences and accomplishments. When teaching, I greatly value every student's personal experience and perspective and believe when these are shared, it creates a rich learning environment that we can all grow and benefit from."
