Shout out to our co-sponsors: ASCOCC, LGBTQ+Friends Club, Little Town Productions, COCC Diversity and Inclusion Office, COCC Fine Arts Dept.
We recognize that Rocky Horror was released in 1975 and uses language and themes that
may not be appropriate or sensitive by modern standards, particularly regarding gender,
sexuality, and trans, non-binary and gender fluid identities. We believe that engaging
with the film allows us to reflect on progress while appreciating the historical context
in which it was made. We encourage open dialogue and understanding.

October 11, is National Coming Out Day the internationally observed day to celebrate
and to raise awareness of the LGBTQ community and the LGBTQ civil rights movement.
National Coming Out Day was founded in 1988 by Robert Eichberg, a psychologist from
New Mexico, and Jean OLeary, an openly gay political leader from Los Angeles. The
date of October 11 coincides with the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington
for Lesbian and Gay Rights.
COCC is committed to providing a safe and respectful learning and working environment
for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students and colleagues, and
their allies. Join with the campus faculty, staff, and students who are coming out
in support this effort.
