Need help accessing your Community Education online course?
Online Course Terminology:
Online Live Courses - Meets online on a specific date and time. The courses are interactive and facilitated by a Community Education instructor. These courses may also be referred to as "remote."
Online Self-Paced Courses - Complete course material on your own schedule within a specific period of time.
Hybrid Classes - These courses will have some of the content delivered at a specific time with an instructor in a classroom or online live plus additional online work to be completed on our own as assigned.
Start by determining what type of online course you are taking. This information can
be found on your Email Confirmation receipt or in the "Facility" section in our Online Registration System. Then use the appropriate link below.

For students in an Online Live course using Zoom - These courses meet on a specific date and time. A Community Education instructor teaches them with live classroom interaction.
Requirements for a successful online class experience via Zoom:
- Verify correct email address on your account during registration. Course access information is by email only.
- If you have not received an email 2 days prior to start date, please check your junk, spam or promotions folders or contact ceinfo@cocc.edu.
- A computer or laptop with current updated operating system.
- A high-speed internet connection.
- An up-to-date internet browser.
- Integrated or USB-connected webcam, speakers OR a telephone.

Necessary Technical Skills
Students should be comfortable doing the following:
- Search for information on websites using an internet browser such as Firefox, Chrome or Safari
- Use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel to create documents
- Manage files and folders: save, name, copy, move, rename, delete, download and upload
- Navigate Blackboard and use tools such as discussion boards, assignments and tests

Converting Files
COCC uses Microsoft Office applications as the standardized software. Your instructors may not accept files saved in other formats. Assignments submitted in Canvas should be in MS Office format (.doc, .ppt, .xls) or PDF unless specifically stated otherwise. Students without MS Office software should know how to convert their files if necessary.
Follow the instructions below to convert your file to COCC appropriate format. These instructions are for MS Word, but the process will be the same for other files as well.
