ABOUT THE TEAS EXAM

The ATI Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a required exam for students applying to COCC's Nursing Program. The purpose of the TEAS examination is to assess an examinee's overall academic preparedness for a health science program.  Every few years the TEAS content outline is reviewed to ensure that it is up to date for its intended use with nursing and allied health program applicant populations.

What should I do to prepare for the ATI TEAS?

To aid your preparation for the ATI TEAS, Version 7, ATI TEAS offers both free resources and resources for purchase.

Can I take the TEAS more than once?

You may take the exam up to two times the first year you are eligible and plan to apply to the program. After your initial application to the nursing program, you can take the exam once per application year going forward. If you applied last year or before, under the previous twice lifetime limit, you will have one exam per application year.

There are four ways to take the TEAS exam: in person through COCC; online through COCC; in person through a PSI National Testing Center; or online through ATI (the organization that manages the TEAS exam). For details about each option, see below:
